Groninger

Groninger has built filling and closing machines for liquid and viscous pharmaceuticals since 1980, from Crailsheim in Germany. Its machines handle vials, nested and bulk syringes, cartridges, ampoules, eye drops, and nasal sprays across performance classes from 10 to 600 objects a minute.

The pharmaceutical range divides by container handling rather than by product: flexfill machines process ready-to-use nested syringes, vials, and cartridges under aseptic conditions, while separate bulk vial lines cover washing, sterilizing, filling, and closing for containers that arrive unprocessed. Downstream syringe assembly machines add labeling, plunger rods, finger flanges, and safety devices.

Machine design has been reworked around EU GMP Annex 1, which tightened expectations for barrier systems and contamination control in sterile manufacturing. A separate consumer healthcare line, flexcare, fills non-sterile pharmaceuticals, diagnostics, and dietary supplements at batch sizes from small runs upward, and the company also builds cosmetics filling equipment. Groninger employs more than 1,500 people.
