Fluid Air, a division of Spraying Systems Co., builds solid dosage processing equipment in Illinois: fluid bed systems for drying, granulating, and coating, PHARMX high-shear granulators, and GRANUMILL size reduction. Its milling systems meet FDA SUPAC guidance for both low-speed screening and high-speed impact milling.
Founded in 1983, the company has since built out PolarDry electrostatic drying, a spray drying variant that uses an electrostatic field to drive water to the droplet surface, which lets heat-sensitive and high-value materials be dried at lower temperatures than conventional spray drying allows.
Fluid Air works with customers from startups through global manufacturers to develop and validate processes around their specific materials rather than selling equipment alone, and it serves biologics and pharmaceuticals, nutraceuticals, and advanced battery production from the same technology base.
