Alexanderwerk builds roller compactors for dry granulation, forming granules by compressing powder between two counter-rotating rollers with no liquid binder and no drying step. Its WP Pharma series runs from the WP120 laboratory unit up to production machines handling several hundred kilos an hour.
Dry granulation suits materials that are moisture-sensitive or heat-sensitive, where wet granulation would degrade the API or add a drying stage. Alongside the compactors the company builds moist granulation plants and rotor fine granulators, and its machines are configured for dry, moist, and paste-like raw materials across pharmaceutical, chemical, and food production.
Alexanderwerk runs its own international test facilities, so a customer can trial a process and settle on parameters before committing to a machine, and it handles consulting, plant engineering, and after-commissioning support in house. The company is based in Remscheid, Germany.
